April showers are out in full force this week, but instead of getting all Debbie Downer why not use that extra time inside to treat yourself to a pamper night? There's nothing quite like cozying up and having some 'me' time to the sound of spring rain and your latest Netflix binge.

It may be a cliche, but candles do really help to give the evening ambiance, and this Lavender Lemonade candle from Target is a great budget buy that seriously smells amazing.

I tend to leave the scary green face masks and the sexy slicked back hair treatments to nights when the boy is not around. The Queen Helene and Macadamia Deep Repair masks are cult favourites for a reason - they really do perform to their claims. The hype is real people.

Let the masks do their magic while you hop in the tub. If you're the showering kind, grab a shower cap so your mask has the maximum time to treat your tresses. I take the opportunity to do a scrub down - my favourite is the Tree Hut brand that I am currently sad to be without. Any recommendations for a replacement?

I will admit - I'm pretty bad when it comes to keeping moisturized. My legs are extremely sensitive, especially after shaving, and I can't stand the feeling of most thick body creams. Thankfully I have recently found not one but two that finally seem to agree with me. Fast absorption without skipping on the deep moisture! I soften up with either the Garnier Soothing Gel-Cream for Sensitive Skin or the St. Ives Skin Renewing Moisturizer and pop on a pair of the Bath & Body Works Shea Socks for good measure. Even if they don't do anything in terms of moisture, they are probably the softest socks ever.

If you're still battling the casualties of the harsh winter like I am, slap some Argan Oil on your cuticles and get ready to settle into a marathon of TV/movies that you may or may not be embarrassed to watch with anyone but yourself.

What's your favourite way to pamper yourself?

Being a former girl guide and all, I am a little OCD about being prepared. I don’t enjoy being caught off guard and so I have set up a little kit at the office to ensure I am ready for almost anything. You may laugh, but let me tell you, I have been in a situation where I needed every single one of these things, and being the person in the office people can rely on to have everything does have its perks!

  1. Lozenges, because being that girl who can offer a co-worker a little comfort has its benefits
  2. Mini Deodorant for freshening up before a big meeting, or those times you are late for work and forgot to put some one before you left the house. Just me?
  3. New Skin Liquid Bandages for breaking in those killer (literally) new shoes.
  4. A Nail File because hang nails are THE worst.
  5. Tylenol/Midol, enough said I think.
  6. Hand Cream to save your dry little paws from those communal soap dispensers
  7. Caught in the rain? Having a bad hair day? A tiny bit of Argan Oil can help hide a multitude of hair sins.
  8. And Dry Shampoo will take care of the rest.
  9. Bobby Pins/Hair Ties/Claws for when you really need to get down to business and want your hair out of your face.
  10. Tinted Lip Balm does double duty by moisturizing and providing a little life back into your face circa 2 pm.
  11. A Mirror keeps everything in check.
  12. And a Pashmina/Scarf helps with climate control in frigid office settings.

Did I miss anything?

Whether you're still in school or not, February and March is the prime vacation season to get away from the freezing winter blahs and head to somewhere with warm breezes and steady sunshine. I may not be lucky enough to be taking a beach vacation any time soon, but that doesn't stop me from thinking and dreaming about it. Constantly. If you're planning a getaway this winter, here are my top 5 spring break essentials.

1. Spray Sunscreen. It can be more expensive than traditional sunscreen, but the convienence of the spray format I think is totally worth it. No more sticky sun screen hands, especially when you're on the beach needing to reapply. The lobster look is never cute, and what comes down the line most definitely is not either.
2. After-Sun lotion. I was the only one that packed this on my last vacation to Florida, and everyone else on the trip was glad I did. The Silk Hydration After-Sun has aloe gel mixed with lotion so it was cooling, soothing and moisturizing which was a nice bonus.
3. Comfortable bathing suits. There is a good chance you'll be spending most of your days by the pool or the ocean. Not everyone may be comfortable parading around in a bikini, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice style. Tons of brands now make super flattering tankinis and one pieces. Just find something you love and are comfortable in and rock it!
4. Good coverage sunglasses. Large sunglasses can get a bad rap for being "bug eyed", but the bigger the more protection they give the sensitive skin on your face. It's all about finding the right shape for your face.
5. Cover up.  Whether you're comfortable showing off a ton of skin or not, it's good to give it a little break from the sun every now and then. There are tons of shapes, styles and colours so find one that is flattering to your body and has an element of sheerness to it for a little sexiness.

Are you going away this winter? What are your favourite things to take to a sunny destination?
